R.I.P to a legend

After almost 6 years with her, its time to start fresh.......After debating on where to go with the project, we came to a conclusion that it will take to much money to try and bring the Corolla to life. Finding more rust and holes that will take a lot of metal work to repair, the project is to far gone.

After all these years, why give up you say? Why spend 3 to 4 thousand dollars alone on metal work when you can take that, take your budget for everything else in the car, (engine, trans, rear end etc) and buy something that is solid and will only take so much to get ready for a track day.

The decision came to us when we first took the SRT4 Neon to the track....yup, thats right we did it! After our first official track day, more commonly known as CSCS (Canadian Sport Compact Series)  we came in 10th....There were 12 other cars in our class.....but you know it was the best experience i ever had when it came to being in a car that you built wanting to push it to its absolute limits -which we did.....But more on that later......

The plan for the Corolla is now not a secret.....We had a 5.3 Litre GMC Sierra Engine, more commonly known as the "LM7" -a distant family member of the popular LS1 engine ready to be dropped in the car. So you can now imagine what kind of fabrication, time and money that would have to be put in the car......finding a T56 transmission used would still set us back at least 2,000 dollars in Canada. And on top of that finding a 8.8 rear end out of a Ford Ex-ploder may have been more of a issue then a problem solver....

When the decision was made, the doors were yanked, hood, front and rear lights, harnesses and everything else.....These things should sell like hot cakes...

At the end of the day, it was sad to see the car go. But not having any money into it made it easier to say goodbye. The Charger sits alone in the garage, but only for so long.....As i write this to who ever the hell reads it, something else is already up Team Heinkel's sleeve, as we get ready for the next project.......

Stay tuned
