The Grand Prix of Mosport 2013!

Before i can get into our big day at Grandbend, i wanted to take the time to show some pictures of The Grand Prix of Mosport at Canadian Tire Motorsport's Park. This year brought exciting racing at the newly revamped track. The new building they put up looked beautiful, and overall the track and surrounding area was like seeing a track state side! (jaw dropping) I remember the days going to Mosport on a dirt road driving up to a shack buying tickets. Now, all the roads were paved and that so called shack is now a great looking building!

Being at this annual event did bring something different. Team SRT with there new SRT Viper showed up for the first time at Mosport and i must say they were stunning pieces of machinery! Also taking pole for the first time, they did great! Also showing up was the Delta Wing.....weird looking thing!

Some exciting news coming next year. The American Le Mans Series will be joining forces with The Rolex series. It's going to be some exciting stuff! just imagining 2 GT series running together, and i believe 3 prototype series together if i'm not mistaken! -Hopefully these guys come back next year!

The pictures that i took were some of the best i have ever taken -think somebodies getting good at shooting pics! ;)

Test n Tune with the little bastard!

Before our big day at CSCS (Canadian Sport Compact Series) we needed to do a test n tune....Not having any track day experience what so ever with the SRT4, we needed to get some seat time. A week before we set out to GrandBend for CSCS, we hit a Friday night Test n Tune at Toronto Motorsport's Park Cayuga. A couple other high horse power monsters showed up including a ZR1 Vette, some GTR's, a nasty Fox Body Mustang ;) and a some old school Mazda RX7 just to name a few. Deciding to rent a trailer was the best thing we could have ever done, it took a load off our back as we now could push the car a lot harder....

All in all the evening went great, but the follow week when we hit GrandBend, all hell breaks loose.
Stay tuned.

R.I.P to a legend

After almost 6 years with her, its time to start fresh.......After debating on where to go with the project, we came to a conclusion that it will take to much money to try and bring the Corolla to life. Finding more rust and holes that will take a lot of metal work to repair, the project is to far gone.

After all these years, why give up you say? Why spend 3 to 4 thousand dollars alone on metal work when you can take that, take your budget for everything else in the car, (engine, trans, rear end etc) and buy something that is solid and will only take so much to get ready for a track day.

The decision came to us when we first took the SRT4 Neon to the track....yup, thats right we did it! After our first official track day, more commonly known as CSCS (Canadian Sport Compact Series)  we came in 10th....There were 12 other cars in our class.....but you know it was the best experience i ever had when it came to being in a car that you built wanting to push it to its absolute limits -which we did.....But more on that later......

The plan for the Corolla is now not a secret.....We had a 5.3 Litre GMC Sierra Engine, more commonly known as the "LM7" -a distant family member of the popular LS1 engine ready to be dropped in the car. So you can now imagine what kind of fabrication, time and money that would have to be put in the car......finding a T56 transmission used would still set us back at least 2,000 dollars in Canada. And on top of that finding a 8.8 rear end out of a Ford Ex-ploder may have been more of a issue then a problem solver....

When the decision was made, the doors were yanked, hood, front and rear lights, harnesses and everything else.....These things should sell like hot cakes...

At the end of the day, it was sad to see the car go. But not having any money into it made it easier to say goodbye. The Charger sits alone in the garage, but only for so long.....As i write this to who ever the hell reads it, something else is already up Team Heinkel's sleeve, as we get ready for the next project.......

Stay tuned
